LA FONT DU GRIFFE ET LE PIC BAUDILLE

Around the properties of Font du Griffe (450 hectares at Montpeyroux) and Lavagnes (500 hectares at Saint-Guilhem-Domaine de la Font du Griffe and Lavagnes le-Désert), a 2500 hectare area has been open for walkers and nature lovers to explore for a number of years. In effect, after 20 years work to revitalise an area subject to desertification, pastoral use has been improved by the establishment of goat farming at Font du Griffe, as well as overwintering of flocks of sheep and herds of cattle at Lavagnes. The forested area has been equipped with enhanced water points, in order to provide a defence against fire, the area's historic buildings and archaeological heritage have been restored and numerous trails and paths reopened.
